Reports to the Corporate Secretary
Job Purpose
Provide professional legal advice to the Authority so as to facilitate business operations
Main Responsibilities
• Ensure the organisation’s full compliance with statutes regulations
• Represent and defend the interest of the organisation in the courts of law with the assistance of company lawyers
• Provide legal advice to the various directorates and departments so as to transact business within local and international laws
• Prepare contracts and ensure execution of legal instruments for protection of organisational interests
• Ratification of International Civil Aviation Conventions and Agreements (ICACA)
• Accurate adoption of International Civil Aviation Conventions and Agreements to ensure that National interests are protected
• Provide legal services in Bilateral Air Services Agreements (BASA) consultations for the protection of national interests
• Provide legal services in the contracting process and ensure full compliance with agreed policies, procedures and regulations
• Draw up contracts for all aspects of the organisation operations
• Provide Board and other Committees with secretarial services as directed by the Corporate Secretary
Key Competencies
A university degree in Law from a recognized institution
Air law qualification will be an added advantage
6years experience in legal practice, 3 years of which would be at a supervisory level
Knowledge of ICAO standards and recommended practices is an added advantage
Computer literate
Must be a registered Legal practioner
Strong sense of initiative and integrity and ability to work with minimum supervision
