Vacancy: Research Coordinator

The Centre for Sexual Health and HIV AIDS Research Zimbabwe (CeSHHAR Zimbabwe) is a registered Trust. Previously known as the Regai Dzive Shiri Project, which has operated in Zimbabwe since 1999, CeSHHAR Zimbabwe houses a number of HIV prevention and sexual health research and programmatic projects. CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is implementing the National Sex Work Programme ‘Sisters with a Voice’ on behalf of National AIDS Council. The programme has received funding to undertake research to determine the impact and cost-effectiveness of ‘ART treatment as prevention’ among sex workers (SW) attending 12 mobile sites in Zimbabwe.

We are looking for the following position to start working on the research component immediately

Research Coordinator

Purpose of the Job
The research coordinator will be responsible for managing a team of research staff and implementing all research activities within the programme. Travel across Zimbabwe will be required

Key duties and responsibilities
-    Management and training of research team
-    Close liaison with programmatic staff
-    Implementation of the research, namely overseeing in-depth process evaluation and running two population-based surveys in 2013 and 2015
-    Submit approvals and keeping up to date with all the relevant IRBs in Zimbabwe
-    Staff recruitment, supervision and training
-    Provide research reports and updates to the Research Director and investigators
-    Participate in conference calls related to the research
-    Ensuring effective and efficient overall daily running of all research activities
-    Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Director

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

Essential
-    Masters Degree in Social Sciences or related field; an advanced degree will be an added advantage
-    Certificate in GCP and Ethics, sound knowledge of the Zimbabwean regulations and ethical standards
-    At least 2 years experience coordinating research with some experience of conducting randomized clinical trials
-    Experience of undertaking community entry in rural communities and conducting rural surveys
-    Commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary research team
-    Comfort in dealing with issues related to sexuality
-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-    Good interpersonal and organizational skills
-    High level of professionalism and customer service orientated, non judgmental and ability to pay attention to detail
-    Ability to work with people from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
-    Valid and clean driver’s licence

Desirable
-    Some knowledge on ART treatment in Zimbabwe
-    Experience working with vulnerable populations
-    Ability to speak Shona and Ndebele in addition to English will be an added advantage
