INTERNAL AUDITOR
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will report to the Vice Chancellor and will be responsible for:
- Managing an internal audit function.
- The development of quarterly and annual internal audit plans, programme design and reports
- Planning and preparing periodic audit programmes in accordance with prescribed audit! accounting standards.
- Supervising subordinates and providing comprehensive in-house training to ensure qualitative audits.
- Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over the institution's activities.
- carrying out special audits to facilitate investigations as and when required
- Liaising with external auditors.
- Presenting monthly audit reports to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Accountancy Honors degree or equivalent, and/or
- Full CIMA, CIS, ACCA or equivalent diploma
- At least four years auditing experience of which at least two were at a senior level.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting packages/ systems will be a distinct advantage.
- Applicants should preferably be members of the Institute of Internal Auditors or Registered Public Accountants.
- Must be highly computer literate with a deep understanding of internal controls and accounting systems.
