Freda Rebecca Gold Mine currently has a vacancy and is calling for suitable applicants for the following post:
LAB MANAGER
Accountabilities of the role
• Business growth through quality service
• Assessing the result of QA/QC audits and implement improvements as required
• Ensuring that the quality of analytical data produced is maintained at a level that meets or exceeds targets
• Optimising turnaround time for samples ensuring accurate and timely results are achieved and maintained
• Manage all site analytical instrumentation, practices and operations
• Supervise assay lab technicians
• Review and assign assay lab priorities and resources as required
• Oversee hundreds of daily determinations applying extensive fire assaying technique
• Oversee preparation and analysis of geology samples from the mine samples, drill core samples, stockpiles
• Oversee preparation and analysis of process milling samples taken from crushing, grinding, adsorption and electro winning
• Schedule all needed maintenance to resolve issues
Qualification and Experience
• A tertiary qualification in Science (preferably Chemistry/ Met Assaying)
• Should possess sound gold experience in assaying
• Minimum 10years laboratory experience with at least 3years in a managerial role
• Prior experience in team management essential
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Should have knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
Reporting to the Metallurgical Manager, the Lab Manager will be responsible for the management and operation of all aspects related to the site analytical laboratory
