Vacancy: IRS Technical Officer


Abt Associates Inc, currently implements USAID/PMI-funded Africa Indoor Residual Spraying (AIRS) Project, which seeks to reduce the burden of malaria in 14 African countries through cost-effective implementation of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).
The Africa IRS Project is currently seeking qualified candidates for the project’s operations in Zimbabwe. Brief descriptions and qualification requirements for open positions are listed below. All positions are based in Harare.

 IRS Technical Officer
Provide technical operations assistance to the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) before, during and after the IRS campaign. The successful candidate may be seconded directly to the NMCP from July 2013 to February 2014, and assist NMCP in IRS campaign planning, implementation, training, IRS campaign supervision, monitoring and evaluation, and documentation and report writing. The Technical Officer, will also work to assure technical and operations improvements as needed for the 2014 IRS campaign. After February 2014, this staff member will work directly with AIRS Zimbabwe staff, and help the project staff continue its technical support to the NMCP.

Qualification requirements
- A Master’s or PHD in Environmental Health, Public Health or Entomology, or a medical degree
- The successful candidate should have extensive experience in IRS, particularly within Zimbabwe
- Experience with the NMCP and MOHCW are highly desirable
- Candidates should be able to write and present technical reports on malaria control issues
