HIV Prevention Project Co-ordinator
The HIV Prevention Projector Co-ordinator reports to the Health and HIV Manager. His/her responsibilities are:
- Training and supervision of company and focal person on implementation of the employee wellness activities
- Training of youths to conduct Joint In Circuit (JIC) runs
- Develop training material tools for the companies and community focal persons
- Monitor and evaluate the project.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social work/health or related field of HIV prevention
- A minimum of three (3) years’ post qualifying experience in health issues
- Experience in running JIC runs with the youth shall be an added advantage

Vacancy: Senior Human Rights and Governance Programme Officer
Estimated starting Date: 1 June 2013
General Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Programmes Director Manager in Harare, and in coordination with relevant units at NANGO Headquarters and sub offices, the successful candidate will work with the Programmes Unit for the implementation of the NANGO Human Rights, Governance and Information Strategy. The selected candidate will be expected to work on the full time basis during the assigned period. In particular he/she will:
1. Provide key support to the Association and its members on strengthening the coordination of Civil Society Initiative in the area of human rights and governance.
2. Implement and oversee the existing Human Rights and Governance projects within the Association. (Preparation of concept papers and agendas, monitoring, reporting and evaluation)
3. With support from the Programmes Director manage project implementation activities including design of ToRs for consultancies and overseeing the performance of consultants and specialist advisors engaged to support the Human Rights and Governance Programme.
4. Prepare and submit timely, quality routine, special reports and briefings as required.
5. Assist the Association in the design and development of new Human Rights and Governance Project initiatives, including contributing towards NGO project proposal review and management.
6. Provide technical support to project board, field staff and Implementing Partners who will be participating in the programme.
7. Develop and deliver presentations, reference materials and speeches as may be requested on Human Rights and Governance for informational, advocacy and coordination purposes.
8. Participate in coordination meetings with partner NGOs, local authorities and the UN Country Team, as may be required.
9. Represent the Association at high-level dialogue and engagement fora and meetings with the Government of Zimbabwe and other stakeholders from the public sector, private sector and civil society.
10. Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant UN, NGO and government focal points for Human Rights issues in Zimbabwe.
11. Establish links and maintain continuous dialogue with NANGO Implementing Partners in the field of Human Rights.
12. Assist in developing and implementing appropriate capacity building programmes in Human Rights and Governance for Associate Implementing Partners and NANGO Regional staff.
13. Develop and maintain contact NGO databases of key stakeholders for information dissemination purposes.
14. Assist in the development and implementation of an information campaign for NANGO Advocacy Department.
15. Perform any other duties as NANGO may reasonably require commensurate with the post holder’s abilities and responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
Education:
- The incumbent should possess a Master’s degree in Law, Social Science, International Relations or related discipline
- Good computer skills e.g. Word for Windows, Excel, Email & Internet
- Possess training relevant for analytical and research skills, including monitoring and evaluation and project management
- Knowledge and training related to gender issues
Skills and Experience
- Experience in monitoring and evaluating Human rights Projects including the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) processes is an asset.
- At least 4 years working within the development con text, with a focus on human rights, research, and Monitoring & Evaluation.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to cooperate with other NANGO programmes and regional offices.
- Previous experience of working with and through partners.
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Experience in supervising, guiding and training people, individually or in groups.
- Ability to establish good rapport with colleagues from partner organizations.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Familiarity with working with the UNDP, international NGOs and donors an asset.
- Ability to manage more than one project at various stages of completion.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of marginalized populations.
- Ability to network, especially within NGO and governmental contexts
Languages: Thorough knowledge of English. Knowledge of both Shona and Ndebele is an advantage

Vacancy: INSPIRE PMTCT Program Manager
Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. In Zimbabwe, in addition to other programs, CHAI is working to prevent the transmission of HIV from mother to child (PMTCT) by ensuring that the healthcare system is able to provide mothers and children with access to the full cascade of prevention services at all stages of transmission risk.
CHAI’s has received a grant from WHO-CIDA to implement an operations research project that aims to evaluate alternate interventions that may help increase anti-retroviral treatment and prophylaxis uptake amongst pregnant women for PMTCT. This program is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, operationally-focused and research oriented individual for the position of INSPIRE Program Manager.
Responsibilities
Based in Harare with frequent travel to the field, the INSPIRE Program Manager, in collaboration with the Provincial and District Health Management Teams will:
- Supervise a team of approximately six staff to introduce and manage the implementation of the INSPIRE PMTCT operations research project across 3 provinces in Zimbabwe
- Oversee day-to-day programmatic and research activities for the INSPIRE Project, ensuring study protocols are followed
- Develop and monitor detailed work plans and budgets
- Manage and coach teams to ensure everyone is working towards the same project objectives
- Lead periodic statistical analysis as per data analysis plan and interpret findings
- Lead baseline assessments, and data collection and validation exercises
- Ensure all subsequent data collection is conducted according to the case report forms and other tools and mechanisms described in the protocol
- Provide training and supervision to the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer
- Produce regular reports for CHAI, MOHCW, and WHO/CIDA counterparts as well as annual reports for MRCZ
- Manage periodic data entry of case report forms into the electronic database
- Lead the development and provide M&E trainings to health facility staff according to the national curricula and ensure regular and high quality data collection at all study sites
- Build capacity among provincial and district health management team counterparts in use of data collection tools and data management best practices through training and mentoring
- Manage all MRCZ review and re-application needs
- Present key findings of research activities to ART/eMTCT stakeholders through technical working groups and other meetings; and
- Work with CHAI and MOHCW, including Provincial and District Health Teams, to translate findings into adjustments in implementation activities as necessary.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of experience managing and/or providing technical support to public health programs
- A master’s degree in public health or biostatistics and epidemiology
- Experience conducting research, statistical data analyses and M&E activities in development-related work; experience in designing and conducting qualitative research an advantage
- Experience developing data collection tools, study databases, training materials and M&E reports
- Proficiency in STATA or SAS
- Ability to negotiate and achieve consensus with key stakeholders
- Ability to solve challenging problems without extensive structural or operational support
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, both internally and externally
- Excellent business-oriented verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience working in a developing country with ability to function well in rural settings with limited infrastructure and services
- Willingness to spend significant time in the field at health clinics and traveling between approximately 30 facilities
- Strong analytical and presentation skills with technical proficiency in Excel, Access and PowerPoint; and
- English language fluency, both written and verbal required. Fluency in Shona and Ndebele, both written and verbal, is an added advantage.
