their team.

Vacancy: Mining Engineer



MAIN DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Preparing plans for mines, for example tunnels and shafts for underground mines
  • Overseeing major construction projects and ensure that operations are functioning smoothly;
  • Monitoring activities underground;
  • Overseeing staff activities
  • Costing and scheduling supplies;
  • Overseeing the health and safety of the site, particularly in relation to issues such as ventilation;
  • Learning new skills as required, such as drilling and blasting;
  • Providing consultancy and advice on mining and mineral extraction projects;
  • Managing, planning, controlling and directing underground operations
  • Ensuring that set objectives and targets are achieved in a safe and healthy environment for both employees and equipment used
  • Ensuring that planned maintenance schedules are followed

Desired Personal Attributes:

  • Be able to take direction from intermediate and senior staff  to achieve goals
  • Very good planner and organiser
  • Accountable for completing task on time and budget
  • Possess a strong work ethic in a challenging environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Experience in mining narrow reef gold is very critical

Vacancy: Mine Captain



Lynx Mine, situated 57km North of Karoi, is looking for a qualified and experienced Mine Captain.

The Mine Captain's KPAs are:
-Managing, planning, controlling and directing underground operations.
-Ensuring full compliance of the Mining management and Safety regulations of 1990 and other relevant statutory instruments.
-Ensuring that set objectives and targets are achieved in a safe and healthy environment for both employees and equipment used.
-Ensuring that exploitation of graphite is done in a manner that eliminates any form of pilferage.
-Ensuring timeous reporting to the UGM or his appointee on production constraints, achievements and advising remedial action.
-Developing short, medium and long term development and production plans for the section.
-Ensuring that underground operations are carried out in a cost effective manner and that laid down
company procedures are adhered to.
-Ensuring discipline amongst the employees
-Ensuring that planned maintenance schedules are followed.
-Training of mining personnel
-Faithfully observing and carrying out all lawful instructions, obligation, duties or directions given by the UGM or his appointee.


Qualifications and Experience:
*B.Sc. Mining degree
*Diploma in Mining
*Full Blasting licence
*Two years' working experience in a similar position

Description

The position is based at the Mine and its key attributes are as highlighted below:
Job's key Result Areas:
Overall management of the finances of the business.
Designing, managing and implementation of sound and effective financial management, accounting and
procurement systems of the Company.     .
Designing sound internal control systems.
Sourcing and structuring of project finances to the Company's best advantage.
Production of monthly, half yearly and annual financial statements.
Presentation of sound and accurate financial reports and advice to Senior Management.
Plan and manage Company cash flows.
Co-ordinate the budget process and provide sound financial plans for the Company.
Oversee the effective procurement and inventory/materials management functions/systems.
Responsible for year end process and liaison with external auditors.

Requirements
Job Specifications/Requirements:
Degree in Accounting or related field.
Relevant professional qualification e.g. CA, CIMA, ACCA, etc.
MBA qualification will be an added advantage.
Have at least 10 years experience at senior management level.
Exposure to a mining and/or manufacturing environment would be an added advantage.
Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
Good communicator with ability to negotiate at all levels.

Freda Rebecca Gold Mine currently has a vacancy and is calling for suitable applicants for the following post:

LAB MANAGER

Accountabilities of the role
Business growth through quality service
Assessing the result of QA/QC audits and implement improvements as required
Ensuring that the quality of analytical data produced is maintained at a level that meets or exceeds targets
Optimising turnaround time for samples ensuring accurate and timely results are achieved and maintained
Manage all site analytical instrumentation, practices and operations
Supervise assay lab technicians
Review and assign assay lab priorities and resources as required
Oversee hundreds of daily determinations applying extensive fire assaying technique
Oversee preparation and analysis of geology samples from the mine samples, drill core samples, stockpiles
Oversee preparation and analysis of process milling samples taken from crushing, grinding, adsorption and electro winning
Schedule all needed maintenance to resolve issues

Qualification and Experience
A tertiary qualification in Science (preferably Chemistry/ Met Assaying)
Should possess sound gold experience in assaying
Minimum 10years laboratory experience with at least 3years in a managerial role
Prior experience in team management essential
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Should have knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

Reporting to the Metallurgical Manager, the Lab Manager will be responsible for the management and operation of all aspects related to the site analytical laboratory
