Vacancy: Agronomist Field Officer


The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation in Harare (covering Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe) invites applications from qualified Zimbabwean nationals for the position of Agronomist Field Officer to be based in Bulawayo.

Function description
Agro Field Officer supporting ICRC interventions in support of agricultural production in the Zimbabwe Prison Service (ZPS) prison farms.

Key responsibilities
-    Participate in the implementation of agro projects, in close co-operation with the Head of sub delegation in Bulawayo, the Head of EcoSec department and delegates in charge of prisons within his/her area
-    Propose and suggest initiative/improvement regarding the activities implemented at prison level
-    Support ZPS Farm managers in the conduct of agricultural activities, with special focus on vegetable, legumes and small animal production
-    Participate in the process of farming inputs procurement, quality control and distribution
-    Participate in the Economic Security training programme
-    Monitor and evaluate on regular basis the progress of the agro projects in prisons
-    Participate in the conception, implementation, follow up of income generating and rehabilitation activities in the prison farms
-    Prepare regular reports on the activities performed

Qualifications and skills
-    University degree in Agronomy
-    Six years work experience in similar field
-    Good analytical communication and reporting skills
-    Ability to work within a team
-    Good knowledge of the assigned area of work (Matebeleland, Midlands, Masvingo)
-    Knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an asset
